Prof. Dr. Sabit Kalfagil was graduated from Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Architecture in 1959. Till 1988, he worked as Istanbul Development Directorate and Vice Presidency. He became an associate professor in 1989. He had become a professor in 1998. Since 1978, he has been writing articles about photography in various magazines. In 1979, he took place among the founders of Fine Arts Academy Photography Institute. His work named “Fotoğraf Sanatında Kompozisyon (Composition in Photography Arts)” which he had written in 1981, made its forth edition. In 1988, his album named “Fatih Monuments” was published. In 1993, he prepared a nine-episode documentary film together with TRT named “Işığın Peşinden Anadolu (Anatolia on the back of light)”. In 2002, his book called “Türkiye’nin Üzerindeki Işık (Light on Turkey)” was published by Ministry of Culture. This year İlke Yayıncılık has published the second edition of the same book. One of his albums was published in 2004 in a work called “Türk Fotoğraf Kütüphanesi (Turkish Photograph Library)”. In 2005, his retrospective album titled “1960’lı 1970’lı Yıllar (1960s and 1970s)” was issued. In 2009, his black and white album named “Istanbul” was published. He held numerous personal and group exhibitions in and out of the country and he received awards. Currently he is lecturing at Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University.
