Art is the expression of beauty. And photography is the art of stopping the elapsing time and capturing the moment. Therefore the attention of man in photography increases day by day. Photographs have become an inseparable part of our lives along with the developing technology. Accordingly, for 4 years we have been gathering those committed to photography in Bursa, the popular city of our country.
We organized our festival with the theme “Encounters” in 2011, with “The Traces of Humanity” in 2012 and with the title “Colors of Life” in 2013. This year we are realizing the festival with the theme “Living Together” on 6-11 December, 2014.
Living together is the essential condition of a permanent and sustainable life. Human life can only continue in interaction with other people, living things and the world. Living together is the awareness of man that he is not the master but part of the nature. It is the making peace of man with man and man with nature. Therefore there is need for awareness, responsibility and more active efforts on behalf of all humanity and living things. We have to discover the art of living together in order to continue our generations without eroding other living things and resources and also in peace. Photography has things to say about living together at every moment of life with all the living things on earth.
As in the past 3 years, this year again we will perceive life, the feeling that cannot be told through long texts through photography at the International Bursa Photography Festival (BursaPhotoFest). BursaPhotoFest brought together the Turkish and world photographers in 2011 for the first time; and this year again it will bring together about 80 photographers locally and from various countries in Bursa with the Bursa people. It will make its authenticity felt with activities such as exhibitions, panels, meetings, shows, portfolio evaluations and workshops.
I hope that the 4th International Bursa Photography Festival will be a happy occasion and I pay my gratitude and respect to you.
