Tuğrul Çakar was born in 1946 in Sakarya. He started his first photography works in 1978. Tuğrul Çakar opened his first personal exhibition in London in 1985 and then in Ankara and İstanbul in the same year. He did not pursue his works only in London-Ankara-Istanbul triangle, but continued to open exhibitions at various locations of Turkey and the World. He published his first publication in 1990 as an exhibition catalogue named “Call for Water” In 1992, he reunited his first photography album “While waiting Fırat” with the photography lovers. His “Black and White Tales” that he published in 2007 takes place amongst his very important works. Tuğrul Çakar, worked as a member in the selection committee at various photograph competitions that are nationally and internationally arranged and gave lessons at Gazi University in 1993 and Hacettepe University in 1999, was conferred with the A-FIAP degree by International Photography Federation (FIAP-Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique). Tuğrul Çakar, whose numerous photographs are found worthy for awards, is a member of Adana Photography Amateurs (AFAD) and is the founding member of Photography Art Institution (FSK). In 2009, he is considered worthy for the honor membership by Ankara Photography Artists Institution (AFSAD). Tuğrul Çakar continues his concentrating on photography and literature in his studio in Ankara and works as an instructor at Başkent University Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture.
